THE EVERLASTING ARMS OF GOD

THE EVERLASTING ARMS OF GOD

TEXT: “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms…(Deuteronomy 33:27)”

The ancient Israelites built six cities of refuge, where people could find safety if they unintentionally caused harm. As Christians, we have a better refuge – God Himself. His eternal security surpasses the safety of those cities and can never be breached.

Our text reminds us that God’s protection is always available, like a pair of everlasting arms that hold us close. No enemy can penetrate this fortress of protection. We are safe in God’s loving arms, just like a mother hen shelters her chicks under her wings. This truth is further exemplified in the New Testament, where we are told that our lives are hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3).

As the saints of God, we are sheltered within the heart of our Creator, protected by His everlasting arms. We can trust that we won’t fall, because God is our anchor in the storm, our strength in weakness, and our shelter in times of distress. His arms are always underneath us, holding us up and keeping us safe. The Psalmist says in Psalm 91:4, “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” God’s arms are not just for us, but for the whole creation. When we trust in Him, we have eternal assurance of His love and protection. So, let’s declare with confidence, “God is my refuge, and underneath me are the everlasting arms.”

As you go about your day, remember that God’s loving arms are always around you. You are cradled in the loving arms of your Heavenly Father, who will always keep you safe.

SEARCHLIGHT: To be in God’s everlasting arms is to be shielded from evil.

PRAYER: Lord, help me trust in Your eternal protection, so I can walk confidently in Your strength. Amen.

BIBLE READING: Isaiah 44-46 & Revelation 12..
