A GOOD NAME

TEXT: Proverbs 10:7; 22:1
KEY VERSE:
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold. Proverbs 22:1
As believers, our good name can stand as a legacy, a testimony to God’s grace and mercy. Proverbs 22:1 says, ‘A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.’ When we live with integrity and kindness, our good name will shine like a beacon, attracting others to Christ.
But those who choose wickedness leave behind a legacy of destruction and heartache. Their name becomes a curse, a reminder of their misdeeds. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 10:7, ‘The memory of the wicked will rot.’
And yet, no matter how far we’ve strayed, God’s grace and forgiveness are available. John Smith’s story is a testament to this. Through repentance and faith, he turned his life around and rebuilt his reputation. And just as John’s name was redeemed, so too can our own names be redeemed if we turn to God with a sincere heart.
So, my friends, choose a good name. Choose to live in a way that honours God and builds up your fellow man. For as Proverbs 22:1 says, ‘The reward of humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, honour, and life.’
Remember that your name is your legacy, your gift to future generations. Choose wisely, my friends, for as Proverbs 22:1 reminds us, ‘A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.’
May your name reflect the goodness and glory of God. Choose to build a good name, a name that reflects God’s goodness and grace. Choose to live a life of integrity and faithfulness, and let your name become a beacon of hope and encouragement to all who hear it.
SEARCH LIGHT: Your name is your legacy. Live a life that builds a good reputation and shines the light of Christ to others.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, give me the grace to live for Your glory.
