NO STAIN TOO DEEP FOR GRACE

TEXT: Isaiah 1:16–18
KEY VERSE: “Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD: Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” — Isaiah 1:18
A backslider is someone who once followed Jesus but has slowly turned away. It doesn’t happen all at once — it begins with small steps, often hidden in the heart. This is what happened to the people of Judah. They once served God but slowly started following the ways of other nations around them. They left the truth they once knew.
Still, God didn’t give up on them. He sent the prophet Isaiah with a message of hope. God was saying, “Come back to Me.”
When a sinner repents and believes in Jesus, God forgives them instantly. They don’t have to earn it — it’s a free gift of grace. But when a backslider returns, God expects more. He wants them to truly turn away from every sin, break off old habits, and show they are serious about coming back. God told Judah, “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean.” This means getting rid of every sin and wrong relationship.
Also, true return to God includes doing good. Isaiah said, “Learn to do right, seek justice, help the oppressed.” A real Christian life shows in how we treat others — especially the poor, the weak, and those without help. You grow by learning, and you grow by doing.
God also invites us to talk with Him. “Come now, and let us reason together,” He says. God is holy and all-knowing, yet He wants to reason with us. That shows how much He loves us. No matter how dirty sin has made us, He promises: “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”
If you’ve fallen away, don’t stay there. God is calling you back. He wants to forgive you, clean you, and restore you. All He asks is that you turn away from sin, learn to do right, and walk with Him again. No one is too far gone. His love is deeper than your failure. If you come back with a true heart, He will receive you with open arms.
SEARCH LIGHT: God is always ready to forgive and restore anyone who truly returns to Him.
PRAYER: Lord, I’m sorry for every way I’ve turned from You. Please wash me clean and help me live for You again. Amen.
