TEXT: Can two work together, unless they be agree? (Amos 3:3)

Today’s discussion borders on the requirements for a believer to enjoy good work and fellowship with God Almighty. For two people to walk and enjoy a close relationship, the two of them must be in agreement and harmony. Thus, for us to walk with God, we must be in conformity with His will and desires.

How can you claim to be working with God when all aspects of your life are at variance with His guidelines? How can you expect to have a close relationship with a father that you don’t respect? How can you turn against a biological father and yet expect him to be attentive to your needs? The same way you need to be in unison with your biological father to receive from him, you also can’t go far without establishing a quality relationship with the Creator of the universe and obeying His statutes at all times.

KEY FACTS ABOUT TRUE FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD

  1. You must obey God in all things. Avoid practicing selective obedience. Some Christians select certain biblical doctrines that they find pleasant and they obey them, while neglecting other aspects that they find too cumbersome or herculean. We can’t subscribe to darkness and still be desirous of receiving from the light source. (1 John 1:6-7)
  2. We must die completely to “self”. Walking in agreement and true fellowship means we are sacrificing our will and succumbing to that of the Father. Our interests may no longer matter so far as it is in conflict with God’s, and that is what we call true fellowship. A believer who is not ready to surrender his/her entirety to God is definitely not ready for the journey of communion and fellowship.
  3. Agreement with God makes it easier for our prayers to be answered. When our hearts are united, it is easy for us to bare our hearts to God and receive answers from Him. (1 John 5:14)
  4. Constantly examine your life to ensure that you are still living in conformity with His will.
