THE IMPARTIAL NATURE OF GOD CONCERNING SALVATION
SEPTEMBER 6, 2025
TEXT: ACTS 10:34-34
KEY VERSE: Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons ACTS 10:34
Our discourse today borders on the neutrality and equitable nature of God, as far as salvation and anything that pertains to mankind may be concerned. God sees all and sundry as one before His throne, and the same treatment meted out to the rich will also be meted out to the poor, and diverse people from diverse quarters, regardless of their respective status. God had earlier directed Peter to go down to Cornelius’ house to enhance his conversion. Peter, after falling into a trance, had become reluctant owing to the general belief that Christ came to die for the Jews and not the Gentiles. God had to caution him not to call what He has cleansed “unclean” before Peter accepted to carry out the Lord’s command.
Salvation does not come to a person by inheritance or entitlement. It comes by virtue of the special grace made available by Christ Jesus. He that finds himself saved should not despise others but instead, pray for the salvation of those who are not as lucky. (Romans 10:12-13) That you were born into a Christian home does not confer salvation on you. Rather, you must work out your salvation with fear and trembling so that you will not fall, while thinking that you stand. (1 Corinthians 10:12)
KEY TAKE-HOMES
- The love of God is universal and cuts across all tribes, ethnic groups, societies and languages. God is not desirous of anyone perishing. Rather, He wants everyone to come to the understanding of Him. Whether you are Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Ijaw, etc. does not matter. Rather, what matters is that you have a ready heart to accept Him. Your past doesn’t matter, at least as far as salvation is concerned. (Romans 10:13)
- God’s standard for judging totally differs from man’s standard. While man looks at the outward appearance, God looks intently at the heart of man, which is the only genuine source of determining man’s true nature, as outward appearance may be deceptive. God does not care about your title or position in relation to salvation.
- God is the God of all. He specifically came for the “spiritually needy” and not the “spiritually healthy”. By virtue of this, those people you deliberately despise because of their perceived sins are actually in the agenda of God and He desires that they come to full repentance.
- In the course of carrying out the Great Commission bestowed upon us as a duty by God, we must learn not to discriminate, as that person you are discriminating against may have so much planned out for his life and destiny by God.
SEARCHLIGHT:
God’s ways are not the ways of man. Peter already condemned the Gentiles as “unclean” even before listening to what the Saviour had to say. However, God insisted by telling him to go, as He sees them in a “cleansed” state.
PRAYER:
Grace to be spiritually discerning while witnessing be released upon my life now, in the mighty name of Jesus.
BIBLE READING:
Isaiah 64-66, Matthew 25.
