TEXT: JOSHUA 7

KEY VERSE: (Joshua 7:12) Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.

Today, we shall continue with our discussion on the importance of God’s backing and presence in our lives. What can a believer do when he is already shut out or when his life is already bereft of God’s presence and backing?

HOW TO RESTORE GOD’S BACKING/PRESENCE

  1. Confess and repent of every known sin: including the sin that made you lose touch with the throne of grace in the first place. Make sure the repentance is a genuine one and not just a mere show of sobriety. (Psalm 51:11)
  2. Totally detach yourself from every accursed thing: in your custody that might be inhibiting the presence of God in your life.
  3. Strive to live a life of pure holiness: God only inhabits an arena that is holy (Hebrews 12:14)
  4. Don’t exchange God’s presence for temporary worldly gain: especially in your career. The devil can entice with things of the world which he does not even own (as he is not the creator of the world), but whatever he gives you will ultimately require you to give something valuable in return, e.g., your destiny, your life, your loved ones, etc. All these things cannot occur when God is the anchor of your life.
  5. Always be sensitive to the things of the Spirit: There are some instances when we pray and we perceive that God is actually directing us to do away with something for our prayers to be answered. Be sensitive to every “Achan” in your life which might have been standing against answers to our prayers.
  6. Do not embark on any step without seeking the presence of God: Don’t navigate any storm without divine backing, in order to avoid calamitous outcomes.

SEARCHLIGHT: God’s presence in our affairs is like a lamp. Without it, we will be in utter darkness, regardless of the nature of physical illumination that surrounds us.

PRAYERS:
My Father, You are my only Shield, do not abandon me, in the Mighty name of Jesus.
