THAT “ONE” PRECIOUS SOUL

THAT “ONE” PRECIOUS SOUL

TEXT:
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. (Luke 15:7)

Today’s discussion is centred around the preciousness of just “one” soul in the sight of God. God sent His one and only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. Jesus came mainly for the spiritually “sick” and not “healthy”. He stated as well that those who are healthy are in need of no doctors. Thus, heaven finds it a big deal indeed when a soul finds his path back to Christ.

God is not desirous of anyone perishing (2 Peter 3:9). He has made available unto us the power of death and life, and He strongly admonishes us to choose life.

In the given text, Jesus Christ gave us a parable of how a shepherd who had 100 sheep had to abandon 99 others in desperate search of one that went missing. This, of course, begs the question of why one would leave 99 assets seemingly endangered in the wilderness just to search for a single missing one.

Reading subsequently, we also see the case of the woman with ten coins who had to light a candle and sweep the house thoroughly and meticulously just to find the missing coin. She did find it and was enraptured with great ecstasy, to the extent of calling upon her friends to rejoice with her.

We can also see the case of the prodigal son who lavished his father’s wealth on wayward living and had to return home shamefully. However, his father welcomed him like a royal prince.

The father, the woman, and the shepherd in the above scenarios are all metaphorical representations of the love of God for mankind and how far God is willing to go to bring a lost sinner back to His fold. This is a wake-up call for us today that we should have regard for every soul out there. Every soul matters to God, no matter how despicable such persons might have become.

SEARCHLIGHT: God’s love never fails. God is still, out of love, calling all souls unto full repentance and fellowship with Him.

PRAYERS:
O Lord, empower me with zeal for kingdom assignments, in the Mighty name of Jesus. O Lord, may it never be said that my lifestyle caused a soul to perish, in Jesus’ Mighty name.
