GOD’S SALVATION DESIRE FOR ALL AND SUNDRY

GOD’S SALVATION DESIRE FOR ALL AND SUNDRY

NOVEMBER 7, 2025

TEXT: For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. — (1 Timothy 2:3–4)

It needs no further saying that God is very magnanimous and His love for mankind is great. He is not interested in seeing anyone perish and has therefore made available the choice of either salvation or condemnation to everybody. He said, “I have set before you today life and death; therefore, choose life.” — (Deuteronomy 30:19).

Paul, in our given text, was addressing Timothy, his disciple and protégé. Timothy was serving as a young pastor in Ephesus, but the church was full of divisions and doctrinal flaws. He made the young Timothy understand that God’s nature is one that is encompassing in terms of love and compassion. God’s ultimate desire is for everyone to come to the light and the truth. The goal is to have all men saved and delivered from the shackles of sin.

KEY FACTS ABOUT GOD’S ATTITUDE TOWARDS SALVATION

  1. Even though God may sometimes demonstrate anger and wrath at certain ungodly acts, the underlying truth is that behind this wrath lies His unconditional love for His people. God was angry with the Israelites on several occasions during the days of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Amos, Hosea, and others. However, He could not bring Himself to utterly destroy them—He had compassion on them.
  2. Salvation is not limited to a certain set of people but to everyone across the globe (John 3:16). Jesus died for both the rich and the poor, the famous and the unknown alike.
  3. Salvation only comes by the knowledge of the truth. The truth being referred to here is the knowledge of Christ Himself. You cannot acknowledge whom you have no prior relationship with.
  4. Just as salvation is individualistic in nature, the safeguarding of such salvation is also individualistic. The Bible urges us to “work out our salvation with fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2:12).

All said and done, no man is shut out from the arena of salvation. He that is ready to be saved will undoubtedly be saved—having no regard to tribe, language, or culture.

SEARCH LIGHT:
Have I truly responded to God’s open invitation of salvation, or am I still standing afar off, undecided? Today, the door of salvation is open for all men—will I enter in?

PRAYER:
O Father, help me to be a beneficiary of Your salvation grace and power, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
