SILENT WITNESSES IN A “DYING” WORLD 1
APRIL 17, 2026
TEXT: How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? (Romans 10:14)
Salvation is not an automatic gift. No one is saved automatically. God has identified evangelism as the core pillar of salvation. The gospel must be spoken. If we, who have been saved, decide to keep mute, it means that a lot of people will remain in the bondage of their sins. Silence interrupts God’s redemptive assignment on earth. He that sees sin being committed and fails to warn the perpetrator is an evil person. God will surely require his blood from your hands (Ezekiel 3:19-20).
Silence and negligence towards gospel assignments are forms of disobedience against God, as He has already instructed us to go into the world and spread the gospel to all nations (Mark 16:15, Matthew 28:19-20). These are not suggestions but instructions and commands that must be followed by us.
In the days of Jonah the prophet, a mighty nation around him was about to perish with over 120,000 people. Jonah demonstrated negligence and unwillingness, and he paid the price by being swallowed by a big fish. If you are saved and refuse to make conscious efforts to save others, you are a sinner in the sight of God.
WHY BELIEVERS SOMETIMES REMAIN SILENT
- You are neither hot nor cold. You are too lukewarm (Revelation 3:16).
- Lack of spiritual empathy. Many do not have passion for perishing souls around them. Many are only after their own personal interests. They care less about others (Matthew 9:36).
- Fear of what men would say. You are not here on earth to do men’s will but to do the will of Him who has sent you.
SEARCHLIGHT: A silent Christian may be saved but will eventually lose eternal rewards.
PRAYERS: O LORD, help me to transform souls in Your name, in Jesus’ name.
