WHO AM I?

TEXT: “Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me”_ (Ezekiel 3:17).
As humans, we yearn to discover our true identity and purpose. We long to know our role in life, who we are meant to be, and what we are meant to accomplish. This search extends beyond the physical realm and into the spiritual, where we are all summoned to assume the role of a “watchman”.
In ancient times, the watchman’s role was to warn of impending physical danger. But as spiritual watchmen, our duty is to warn others about the dangers of not obeying God’s word, and the consequences of disobedience, which include damnation. This role requires unwavering faithfulness, proclaiming God’s message without bias or hesitation, regardless of whether the recipient is a supposed friend or foe.
The spiritual watchman has the duty to warn others about the dangerous consequences of disobedience and recalcitrance, which include divine displeasure and eternal damnation. We must relay the message that God has entrusted us with, whether it be a message of hope or one of warning, without bias or hesitation. This unwavering faithfulness is the mark of a true spiritual watchman.
Today, every born-again Christian is called to share God’s message of love and judgment through the gospel. We must assume the role of spiritual watchmen, spreading the gospel to those in need of salvation and forgiveness. Jesus Himself exemplified this role, teaching, preaching, and healing throughout Galilee (Matthew 4:23). Paul, too, was tireless in his efforts to spread the gospel, exclaiming, “Woe is unto me if I preach not the gospel” (1 Corinthians 9:16).
As spiritual watchmen, we must be willing to sound the alarm of impending judgment, warning both the righteous and the wicked. We must not turn a blind eye to the atrocities of the wicked or ignore the backsliding of the righteous. Our role is not to please men, but to please God, and to faithfully proclaim His message.
SEARCHLIGHT: Embrace your calling as a dependable watchman by fearlessly sharing the light of the Gospel to the lost, and illuminating the path to salvation in a world shrouded in darkness.
PRAYER: Father in heaven, I humbly ask for Your assistance in my calling to fearlessly proclaim Your gospel, shedding light on the path to salvation in a world overwhelmed by darkness. Grant me the strength and courage to carry out this task faithfully, so that many may be saved and Your name glorified. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
