ACCEPTABLE WORSHIP

TEXT:”But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.” John 4:23 (KJV)

Beloved, worship is a fundamental aspect of our relationship with God. In John 4:23, Jesus teaches us that acceptable worship must be in spirit and in truth. This means that our worship should not be limited to external rituals or mere formalities, but should rather be a heartfelt expression of our love and devotion to God.

Acceptable worship is characterised by several key elements:

  • In Spirit: Our worship should be inspired by the Holy Spirit, who helps us to worship God in a way that is pleasing to Him.
  • In Truth: Our worship should be based on a genuine understanding of God’s character and nature, as revealed in His Word.
  • In the Beauties of Holiness: Our worship should be marked by a sense of reverence and awe, as we approach a holy God.
  • With Humility and Grace: Our worship should be characterised by humility and a sense of dependence on God’s grace.
  • Giving Glory to God: Ultimately, our worship should be focused on giving glory to God, rather than seeking to glorify ourselves.

As we worship God, let us remember that He seeks those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. May our worship be acceptable to Him, and may we be transformed by the power of His presence.

Moreover, acceptable worship requires a willingness to surrender our lives to God. When we worship in spirit and in truth, we are acknowledging God’s sovereignty over our lives and submitting ourselves to His will. This surrender is not always easy, but it is essential for true worship.

Furthermore, as we cultivate a lifestyle of acceptable worship, we will begin to experience the transformative power of God in our lives. Our worship will become a catalyst for spiritual growth, and we will be empowered to live a life that honours God. May our worship be a reflection of our love and devotion to Him.

SEARCHLIGHT
True worship is not just about what we do, but about who we are. It is a reflection of our heart’s desire to honour and glorify God.

PRAYER
Lord God, I desire to worship You in spirit and in truth. Help me to cultivate a heart of humility and reverence, and to give You the glory that You deserve. May my worship be acceptable to You, in Jesus’ Name.
