ACKNOWLEDGING GOD’S FAITHFULNESS
DECEMBER 1, 2025
TEXT: Psalm 90:1-2
KEY VERSE: Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. (Verse 2)
Brethren, it is of utmost importance that we thank God for all that has happened (pleasant or not) throughout this present year. Today’s topic focuses largely on the importance of having a heart of gratitude as believers. Our lives shouldn’t be all about asking and receiving. Brethren, the year has been a mixed one for most people. Agreed! It has been a year of ups and downs, political turbulence and instability, especially among the African brethren, while the European, Asian, etc., brethren have also had their own fair share of challenges that may not necessarily be political in nature. All in all, everyone has a story to tell, irrespective of whichever part of the world we may find ourselves. It is, however, essential to point out the fact that in all these, God’s faithfulness cannot be denied, even if you can’t see or appreciate this fact clearly. This year may have been mixed for many, but the fact remains that it doesn’t alter the unchanging nature of God.
This same year, in the midst of your sorrow or anxiety, remember that:
- God preserved your life from that accident that should have sent you to the grave.
- He rescued you from that health challenge which you so much thought would claim your life.
- He lifted deaths programmed against you from your head, even without your awareness.
- He covered your nakedness when things were seemingly tight, especially regarding finance.
All these and many more are reasons why it is expedient for us to give God quality thanks and appreciation. You may feel you haven’t achieved your goals for the year. You may feel your life is no different from last year. You may feel you are not making substantial progress in the race of life. You may feel nothing is worth celebrating in your life. You may look at the sorrowful mysteries surrounding your life and feel hard done in your heart. I want you to know this fact: you are not alone in that condition. God is right there with you in the midst of that storm and rest assured that it won’t swallow or ruin you. Therefore, return all the glory to Him who alone does great wonders.
In the same vein, commit the remaining part of the year into His hands and tell Him that it is not too late for you to receive your own testimonies.
SEARCHLIGHT:
A heart without gratitude is tantamount to being a robber. Cultivate the act of always being thankful, regardless of your situation.
PRAYER:
O LORD, may I never lose my mouth of praise and thanksgivings, in Jesus’ mighty name.
