AN EXPECTED END

AN EXPECTED END

DECEMBER 26, 2024

TEXT: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11)

God is the overall controller of our lives, and in view of this fact, He has specific plans for each of us. The plans of God are specifically tailored for each individual (Ephesians 2:10). God’s promise and plan are a confident expectation of good things to come. This hope is not just limited to seasons of pleasure and happiness but also meant to give us succor in times of challenges and difficulties (Romans 5:3-4).

The hope promised by God in our given text goes far beyond our circumstances and actually gives us a sense of guidance, purpose, and direction (Romans 8:18). Also, God’s promise and plan for our prosperity go beyond material possessions, including spiritual growth, social well-being, and emotional well-being (3 John 1:2).

The implication of these promises for our lives is that we must trust in the power, might, and sovereignty of God to fulfill His purpose in our lives (Psalm 138:8). Thus, we must live constantly in hope, even in the midst of difficulty and challenges. The promise of God regarding a good future is a strong indication of God’s sovereignty over our lives, encouraging us to trust God to manifest His promises over our lives while giving us a sense of direction.

SEARCHLIGHT: Before forming us, God had a special plan for each life. Although sin, foundational battles, or lack of diligence may hinder these plans, trusting God’s sovereignty and guidance ensures fulfillment.

PRAYER: O Lord, let not Your plans for my life be cut short, in the name of Jesus.

BIBLE READING: Exodus 23-25, John 11
