BE WATCHFUL!

BE WATCHFUL!

February 22, 2025

TEXT: “But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.” (Mark 13:32)

Today’s discussion centers on the need for vigilance at all times and for all believers to be constantly on the alert in order not to miss the rapture. The rapture is the next greatest event anticipated by all believers and saints alike, and it is one that will likely come with massive shockers. However, as believers, you cannot afford to miss out on the rapture. As one of our Fathers of faith once said, “If you miss heaven, you can’t miss hell, and if you miss heaven, you will CRY!”

The text under consideration admonishes us to keep watch, as even Jesus and the angels do not know the date of the second coming. Only the Father knows the time and season of the second coming. Apostle Paul, in his epistle to the Thessalonians, advised them not to be like others who are asleep but to be awake and sober constantly (1 Thessalonians 5). Jesus also established the importance of watchfulness because of the uncertainty surrounding the time of His coming. According to Jesus, if only the thief had announced his coming to the victim, the victim would have guarded himself (Matthew 24:22).

Thus, as a man safeguards himself at night against possible invasion by thieves before going to bed, it is essential that we, as believers, also safeguard ourselves and keep ourselves ready for the marriage supper of the Lamb, as Christ’s coming will be like a thief in the night. Whatever a Christian is caught with at that particular time may go a long way in determining their eventual destination.

Finally, the process of keeping watch involves guarding our behaviors, making our relationship with God our main priority, demonstrating faithfulness in our duties and relationships with those around us, and so on.

SEARCHLIGHT: You cannot afford to be caught off guard, as that will be the greatest regret of your sojourn on earth.

PRAYER: O Lord, when the roll is called up yonder, may I not be a castaway, in Jesus’ name. O Lord, anything in me that may deny me eternal glory in Your kingdom, take it away from me, in Jesus’ name.
