BELIEVERS AS TRANSMITTERS OF GOD’S BLESSINGS 2

TEXT: Genesis 12:2-3
KEY VERSE: “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” Genesis 12:8
Today, we shall conclude our yesterday’s discussion on the blessings of God. There are some key facts that we, as believers, need to take note of as far as God’s blessing is concerned.
KEY FACTS
- No man can give you blessings. All blessings come from God, albeit through man as God’s agents or representatives. However, all gifts and blessings are divinely orchestrated and facilitated by God. Thus, we must not boast about them unduly but rather glorify the Giver of the blessings (James 1:17).
- Blessings come with satisfaction and delight, but also with more responsibility. When God blesses a man, He wants such a man to take on the responsibility of showing love to others with such blessings, to the best of his capability. When God blessed Joseph by elevating him to the rank of Prime Minister in the land of Egypt, it was not just to enhance Joseph’s CV but to make a way for others through him. The land would have perished of hunger if not for Joseph’s wisdom and the fact that he found himself in that position of authority. If he had not been blessed by God, he would have remained with that wisdom and no one would have really cared about what he had to say concerning the impending boom and famine—because who really cares about what a poor prisoner has to say? Moses was also elevated by God to be a blessing to the Israelites and to lead them out of the land of Egypt.
- A tap flows for people to drink from it. A tap from which people can’t fetch water is of no benefit at all. If your blessing impacts only you, it is of no use.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES AND STEPS
- Let your wisdom bless those around you. The wisdom that profits only the owner is of no use. Use your wisdom profitably to benefit those around you.
- If you are in a position of influence, let it also be of massive benefit to those around you.
- Above all, being born again is the greatest blessing one can ever have. Share the love of Christ with others. Freely you have received; freely you must give.
SEARCHLIGHT: Let your blessings favour those around you, as may be directed by the Spirit of God. That virtue you so much treasure and cherish may have been deposited into your life by God for you to help others.
PRAYER: O LORD, enlarge me so that I can enlarge others, in the mighty name of Jesus.
