BREAKING SPIRITUAL STRONGHOLDS
MARCH 25 2025
TEXT: And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him. (Joshua 1:5)
A stronghold is a mounted pillar erected for the purpose of protecting a place from external attacks. In our given text, we were informed about the stronghold of Jericho which God led the Israelites to conquer mysteriously.
However, we shall be referencing this to discuss the nature of spiritual strongholds. Apostle Paul shed more light on spiritual strongholds in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 which emphasizes the fact that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through Christ to the pulling down of strongholds.
Spiritual strongholds are those barriers that hinder or prevent a person from actualizing or fulfilling purpose. The devil does not desire anything good for us as believers and he is willing to go any length to truncate our destiny. In a bid to achieve his aim, he plants a form of stronghold in our lives which we keep enduring and battling with, and if care is not taken, it can truncate one’s effort at being great in life.
Beloved, we are in a wicked world and once the enemy perceives that you are gloriously loaded, he takes every possible step to cut you off.
The Apostle already declared to us in the aforementioned bible passage that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. In essence, Spiritual strongholds are not things that can be settled by mere human effort. Rather, it takes absolute Spiritual warfare if victory must be ultimately obtained. An “icecream” prayer lifestyle will not work here. Rather, one has to become hot coals of fire that the enemy cannot handle.
