BURNING PASSION FOR PERISHING SOULS

TEXT: The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30)
The greatest business of heaven is winning souls. Nothing delights heaven more than to see souls being turned towards the pathway of righteousness (Luke 15:7-10) Freely you have been given, freely you are expected to give. Apart from evangelism being a divine mandate, it is also a source of joy and satisfaction. What feeling can be greater than a believer seeing a person being won over to the camp of Christ after he has taken the time, pain and effort to minister to him?
God expects us, as believers, to have a burning passion for souls. Souls are perishing. Many ignorantly engage in negative vices around us with no one to correct them in love. Those who are supposed to correct them in love are being judgmental and destructively critical.
When a person’s heart burns with passion, he sees sinners as people who deserve to be rescued from the clutches of sin rather than being seen as problems to mankind. God expects us to demonstrate compassion and pity for the plight of the lost around us.
When we indeed understand what eternity without Christ means, then automatically we will not want to demonstrate passiveness towards sinners. True fire and passion can never be silenced. We must stir up this fire and passion so it will not be extinguished (2 Timothy 1:6).
SEARCHLIGHT: A burning heart for souls is a sign of spiritual health. When your heart burns, your mouth will speak.
PRAYER: O LORD, equip me with a burning heart and hunger for perishing souls, in the mighty name of Jesus.
