DEVELOPING PASSION FOR SOULS
March 15, 2025
TEXT: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8)
We are surrounded by different souls in our respective environments, some of which are rapidly perishing. It goes without saying that we were once lost, but now, by God’s grace and mercy, we have been found. It is therefore expedient that we share these same benefits with others around us who might be in the pit of iniquity. The work of evangelism is one that God does not take lightly. There is always joy in heaven over a sinner who repents (Luke 15:10). God does not desire that anyone should perish, and it is our duty to ensure that those around us who are seemingly on a mission to lose out on eternity are restored to the right path.
Evangelism requires utmost commitment and sacrifice. The assignment has been bestowed upon our hands, and it is not optional at all, nor is it the exclusive task of prophets and evangelists. As believers, the best way to reciprocate the full salvation given unto us is to ensure that others also benefit from it. When a believer has passion for perishing souls, it motivates us more to share the gospel, as we cannot bear to see people suffering in sin. One develops empathy and compassion for them. Another thing passion for souls does is that it gives a sense of fulfillment and joy at the fact that one has been able to bring people from the way of doom to the way of eternal life.
SEARCHLIGHT : Evangelism is not an option as a believer. It is a matter of compulsion.
PRAYERS: O Lord, equip me with passion for the lost sheep, in Jesus’ name.
BIBLE READING: 2 Samuel 4-6, 1 Corinthians 12
