DOING THE WILL OF THE FATHER

DOING THE WILL OF THE FATHER

TEXT: “Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” John 4:34 (KJV)

Beloved, as we journey through this new year, let’s recommit ourselves to doing the will of the Father. Jesus Christ, our perfect example, demonstrated unwavering dedication to God’s will. He declared, “And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him” (John 8:29).

In John 9:4, Jesus emphasized the importance of working while it is day, doing the will of the Father. His prayer at Gethsemane, “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt” (Matthew 26:39), showcases His submission to God’s will, even in the face of immense suffering.

Jesus’ ultimate act of obedience was His death on the Cross, where He bore the weight of our sins, accomplishing the Father’s plan of redemption. As we follow Christ’s example, let’s ask ourselves:

What is the Father’s will for my life?
Am I willing to surrender my desires and ambitions to align with God’s plan?
How can I demonstrate obedience to God’s will in my daily life?

As we seek to do the will of the Father, let’s remember that it’s a journey of surrender, trust, and obedience. May we, like Jesus, declare, “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me.”

However, doing God’s perfect will can also come with challenges and dangers. We may face opposition, persecution, or even physical harm. Jesus Himself was crucified for doing the Father’s will. Yet, despite these risks, we must remember that God’s will is always perfect, and His ways are always higher than ours.

On the other hand, doing God’s perfect will also brings numerous benefits. We experience a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment, knowing that we are aligning ourselves with God’s plan. We also receive the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, enabling us to accomplish tasks that would be impossible in our own strength. Furthermore, doing God’s will brings us into a more intimate relationship with Him, allowing us to experience the joy and peace that come from being in His presence.
