DON’T RELY ON YOUR STRENGTH!

TEXT: 1 Corinthians 10:12-13

KEY VERSE: Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 1 Corinthians 10:12

In the midst of these deceptive tactics, Christians can be swept up in the current of deception without realising it. Selfish ambition, materialistic tendencies, and the lure of worldly pleasure can all be tools used by the enemy to lead believers astray. We must remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of darkness that seek to separate us from God’s love (Ephesians 6:12). It is vital that we do not rely on our own understanding or strength, but look to the Lord for guidance and protection against these pitfalls.

Beloved, the path to destruction is often a gradual process. Like the proverbial frog in boiling water, one small compromise today can lead to another tomorrow, and another the next day. Before we know it, we find ourselves far from the path of righteousness. We must be vigilant against this slow but sure slide away from God. A believer who will not fall away must be humble enough to accept constructive correction and advice from those around them. As the Bible tells us, ‘Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness; and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil’ (Psalm 141:5). Constructive correction and warning can be difficult to hear, but it is a sign of love, a sign of care, and a sign that someone wants us to grow closer to Christ and not stray from the path of righteousness.

In addition, beloved, let us not forget that even the most devout followers of Christ have stumbled at times. Peter himself, one of Jesus’ closest disciples, boldly proclaimed that he would never deny his Lord, only to fall into temptation and do just that. The lesson here is clear: it can happen to any of us, no matter how strong we think we are.

Before we close this message, let us always remember that God’s grace is sufficient for you, no matter the temptation or trial the enemy throws your way. His grace is abundant, His love everlasting, and His Spirit ever-present to guide you. Let us always examine ourselves, not with a spirit of pride, but with a humble heart open to correction, so that we may walk in the truth until the very end. May the Lord keep us, strengthen us, and lead us, and may we never fall.

SEARCH LIGHT: Rely on God’s strength, not your own, and always trust in the power of the Holy Spirit to sustain you.

PRAYER: Dear God, grant me humility and wisdom to seek Your guidance in all things, that I may grow in grace and knowledge.
