FROM GLORY TO GLORY

FROM GLORY TO GLORY

NOVEMBER 1, 2024

TEXT: The glory of this latter house shall be greater than that of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts. (HAGGAI 2:9)

The Glory of God is not stagnant; it constantly increases in magnitude, elegance, and beauty. God’s power of transformation is obvious in the way He ensures that the glory of the latter surpasses that of the former.

The Glory of the former is characterized by the following:

The Glory of the Old Testament: The Glory that was tangibly manifested by God to His people in the Old Testament, especially with God and the Israelites (Exodus 40:34-35)

Limited Accessibility: Only the High Priest was allowed to gain access to the Holy of Holies to view God’s glory. No other individual could attempt it. This inhibited other people who were not priests from experiencing God’s glory.

Temporary Nature: It was temporary in the sense that it was mostly limited to certain times and seasons. For example, Moses’ shining face after he finished communicating with God on the mountain (Exodus 34:29-35).

Earthly Nature: It was largely restricted to physical structures and edifices, e.g., Solomon’s temple and the Ark of Covenant in the camp of the Israelites, which symbolized God’s glory.

It can be simply concluded that the former glory, though a reflection of God, does not fully portray who God is and the extent of His glory. The former glory serves as a template to better understand the latter glory, which is, of course, greater and better.

…TO BE CONTINUED TOMORROW

SEARCHLIGHT: God never stops trying to make us see a greater and better dimension of Himself and His Glory.

PRAYERS: O LORD, help me behold the beauty of Your glory, in Jesus’ name.
