LAUNCHING OUT IN FAITH

TEXT: “So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.”(Genesis 12:4)
Today’s topic talks about the case of a man who demonstrated great faith in launching out to a destination about which he knew nothing. Abraham (formerly known as Abram) was a man who grew up in a city with little or no presence of God, in the land of Ur of the Chaldeans. They later relocated to the land of Haran, another area where there was also little or no presence of God. Suddenly, God spoke to him and directed him to relocate from Haran to an unknown land. He said, “Go to a land that I will show you.” That land was later revealed to be the land of Canaan.
Abraham took his wife and his nephew and stepped out in faith, having no knowledge of his destination but believing that God’s plan for him was good.
It is always a tall order for one to leave a familiar terrain where one has amassed so much and then proceed to launch out into a relatively unfamiliar terrain. In essence, Abraham was asked to leave his surroundings, where he had already mastered so much, and embark on a totally new experience. Sometimes, God may lead us to embark on an adventure whose future outcome is not clear or certain. However, it is our responsibility to demonstrate maximum faith and confidence in God’s ability to direct us to the right path. Never question God for giving you directives that you are not clear about.
SEARCHLIGHT
You don’t need to know the process when it comes to the things of God. Rather, trust the process.
PRAYER
O Lord, help me to trust in Your sovereignty, in the name of Jesus Christ.
