LET US ARISE AND BUILD (2)
SEPTEMBER 30, 2025
TEXT: And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall. (Nehemiah 4:10)
When the enemy wants to hinder a person from actualising certain dreams or accomplishing certain tasks, he does so by utilising a number of weapons. One of the most potent weapons in the arsenal of the devil is the weapon of “discouragement”. When the devil sees that a child of God is hell-bent on achieving his goals, he introduces discouragement so that the person can become disillusioned with the whole task and throw in the towel.
In the process of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, Nehemiah had been the “chief encourager” who motivated the people to build. He saw it as a personal burden. As expected, there were various antagonists from different quarters. However, the strength of God was quite sufficient for them. The prominent leaders of the antagonists were Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem. They mocked the builders and even claimed that the building would collapse if a fox simply walked over it.
In the course of rebuilding, the people faced numerous challenges. The previous ruins made the building project difficult. The strength of the labourers failed at a point.
Thank God for Nehemiah’s faith, strength, and resilience. He was able to motivate the builders. He provided them with swords, spears, etc., to guard themselves in the event of any invasion from the enemies. He encouraged them to remember the Lord who is great and awesome towards them. He also proceeded to inform them that the battle was a generational one and not one whose benefit is only meant to be enjoyed by them alone. Rather, they are preserving the future of their sons, daughters, and wives. (Nehemiah 4:14)

We must be zealous for the service of our God. This zeal will help us ward off any discouragement from the camp of the enemy.
PRAYER
My Father, deliver me from the hands of evil oppressors assigned to discourage every positive move of mine, in the name of Jesus Christ.
