LIVING IN THE ASSURANCE OF GOD’S SUPERNATURAL PROVISIONS

LIVING IN THE ASSURANCE OF GOD’S SUPERNATURAL PROVISIONS

OCTOBER 5, 2025

TEXT: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

Today’s topic is on the supernatural grace of God to ensure that His children are adequately provided for. In the given text, Apostle Paul was acknowledging the Philippians (the Macedonian Christians) for striving to give despite their obvious impecunious lives. He commended them and prayed that “my God” would supply their needs. Ordinarily, the Philippians had every excuse to hold on to their little monies and resources. However, they gave generously unto God on several occasions through Epaphroditus, and God duly rewarded them (Philippians 4:18). The charge was full of assurance that God would, as a matter of certainty, replenish them for their good acts/deeds.

KEY POINTS

  1. This kind of assurance does not agree with anxiety and worry. Assurance is not about laziness or unproductivity, but about God being able to give all-round provisions to those that love and trust Him (Philippians 4:6-7).
  2. This assurance is a life-long assignment. You do not believe God only when you need something from Him. You do not suddenly come out to manifest this assurance only when you are in a dire situation.
  3. Only kingdom participants can benefit from kingdom flow. The gift sent by the Philippians through Epaphroditus to Apostle Paul was described by the Apostle as a “sweet-smelling sacrifice” (Philippians 4:18). This propelled Paul to release supernatural declarations and blessings upon their lives. The Philippians participated in kingdom-promoting assignments and ultimately touched kingdom blessings.
  4. God’s provisions surpass whatsoever man can offer you. He is rich in glory and will provide for you according to His riches in glory, not from His riches in glory. Flowing from the above, it is clear that the confidence which a man has in God’s power of provision is not an ordinary one. It is one that must be backed up by godly living and righteousness.
