LIVING LIKE JESUS
January 23, 2024.
TEXT:”Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” John 14:12 (KJV)
Every true believer is called to live like Jesus. This means that we should strive to imitate His character, follow His teachings, and reflect His love and compassion to those around us. In John 14:12, Jesus says that those who believe in Him will do the works that He does, and even greater works.
In Acts 11:26, we see that the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. This name was given to them because they were followers of Christ, and their lives reflected His teachings and character. As Christians, we must strive to live up to this name, and to reflect the love and light of Jesus to those around us.
In Acts 4:13, we see that the Jewish leaders were amazed at the boldness of Peter and John, who were uneducated and ordinary men. However, they had been with Jesus, and their lives had been transformed by His power and love. As Christians, we too can experience this transformation, and we can live with boldness and confidence, knowing that we have the power of Jesus living within us.
So, what does it mean to live like Jesus? It means to live a life of obedience to God’s Word, to love others as Jesus loves us, and to serve others as Jesus serves us. It means to live a life of humility, compassion, and kindness. It means to live a life that reflects the character of Jesus, and to shine His light in a world that desperately needs it.
As we seek to live like Jesus, we must remember that it is not about trying to earn our salvation or impress others with our good works. Rather, it is about living a life that honours God and reflects the love and sacrifice of Jesus.
SEARCHLIGHT
Living like Jesus is a lifelong journey of growth, transformation, and obedience to God’s Word. As we seek to imitate Jesus’ character and follow His teachings, we will become more like Him, and our lives will reflect His love and light.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to live like Jesus, to imitate His character, and to reflect His love and compassion to those around me. Give me the strength and courage to obey Your Word and to shine Your light in a world that needs it.
