LORD, WHAT WILL THOU HAVE ME TO DO?
JANUARY 4, 2026
TEXT: Acts 9:6.
KEY VERSE: “And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.” (Acts 9:6)
The Bible verse where Paul (then Saul) asks, “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” is Acts 9:6. This question, asked at the moment of his conversion on the road to Damascus, signifies a complete surrender of his will to God’s purpose.
This was from his Salvation to Service,
Beloved in the Lord, another 366 days are here in this year 2026 for us to prove whether we will be profitable or unprofitable servants to God. The call to evangelism is not a mere suggestion but a divine mandate that flows directly from our salvation experience.
- The Making: “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?”
Our journey begins where Paul’s did: at a place of complete surrender. Before his encounter with Christ, Saul was on the wrong path, acting according to his own will, persecuting the church. But when confronted by the Risen Lord, his entire perspective changed, culminating in that single, world-transforming question: “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?”. This is the starting point for every true believer: acknowledging Christ as not just Saviour, but as absolute Lord of our lives. Have you a definite salvation?
After this, we must move beyond simply asking for salvation and embrace a lifestyle of eager obedience, seeking His will in all things.
- The Mandate: From Personal Encounter to Public Witness
The Lord’s response to Saul was immediate and directional: Paul’s response was also instant and definite. “Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.” He did this immediately without a query.
The moment of surrender leads to a mission. God has a unique, personal, and perfect plan for each of His children, and that plan invariably involves bearing His name before others.
We are His representatives here on earth. Just as Paul was a “chosen vessel” to the Gentiles, kings, and children of Israel, we too have a sphere of influence—our families, workplaces, communities—where we are called to be witnesses.
- The Move: A Profitable 2026
This new year is a fresh opportunity to be profitable to God. A profitable servant is one who does the Master’s will. Paul later declared, “Necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!” (1 Corinthians 9:16) May that same urgency grip our hearts this year and beyond! I move to the field, nomore lethargy.
Brethren, let us not let another year pass by in unyieldedness. Let us make 2026 a year of intentional, passionate evangelism. Let our collective cry be: “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” and our response be immediate, because He’s a rewarder of all faithful soul winners
