POSSESSING THE SPIRIT OF FAITH
January 19, 2025
TEXT:”We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak.” 2 Corinthians 4:13 (KJV)
Beloved, as Christians, we are called to possess the spirit of faith. This spirit of faith is what enables us to trust God and His promises, even in the face of adversity and uncertainty. In 2 Corinthians 4:13, the Apostle Paul writes that we have the same spirit of faith, which is rooted in our belief in God’s Word.
A powerful illustration of the spirit of faith can be seen in the lives of Caleb and Joshua, two of the twelve spies sent by Moses to scout out the Promised Land. While the other ten spies focused on the obstacles and challenges they saw, Caleb and Joshua saw the same challenges, but their response was different. They chose to trust God and His promise to give them the land.
In Numbers 13:30, Caleb said, “Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.” Joshua and Caleb’s faith was not based on their own strength or abilities, but on their trust in God’s promise. As a result of their faith, they were the only two spies who were allowed to enter the Promised Land.
On the other hand, the other ten spies who lacked faith were not allowed to enter the Promised Land. Instead, they wandered in the wilderness for forty years, never experiencing the blessings and promises of God.
The reward of Caleb and Joshua’s faith is a powerful reminder of the importance of possessing the spirit of faith. When we trust God and His promises, we can experience the blessings and rewards that come from following Him.
