PRAYING FOR REVIVAL

TEXT:”Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?” Psalm 85:6 (KJV)

Beloved, as Christians, we are called to pray for revival. Revival is a spiritual awakening that brings people back to God and results in a renewed sense of purpose and passion for serving Him. In Psalm 85:6, the psalmist cries out to God, asking Him to revive His people again, that they may rejoice in Him.

One of the most powerful examples of praying for revival in the Bible is Elijah’s prayer on Mount Carmel. In 1 Kings 18:30-38, Elijah challenges the prophets of Baal to a contest, asking God to send fire down from heaven to consume the sacrifice. Elijah’s prayer is a model for us as we pray for revival. He prayed with confidence, knowing that God was able to answer his prayer. He prayed with specificity, asking God to send fire down from heaven. And he prayed with humility, acknowledging his own weakness and limitations.

As we pray for revival, we can follow Elijah’s example. We can pray with confidence, knowing that God is able to revive His people and bring them back to Himself. We can pray with specificity, asking God to bring revival to our churches, our communities, and our nation. And we can pray with humility, acknowledging our own weakness and limitations, and relying on God’s power and strength to bring about revival.

As we pray for revival, we must also be willing to surrender our lives to God and allow Him to work in us and through us. We must be willing to repent of our sins and turn away from anything that is hindering our relationship with God. We must be willing to seek God’s face and cry out to Him for revival, just as the psalmist did in Psalm 85:6. When we pray with this kind of humility and surrender, we can trust that God will hear our prayers and bring about a mighty revival in our lives and in the lives of those around us.
