PRAYING FOR THE UNSAVED
DATE: JANUARY 17, 2024.
TEXT:”Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.” Romans 10:1 (KJV)
Beloved, as children of God, we have a responsibility to pray for the unsaved. In Romans 10:1, the Apostle Paul expresses his heartfelt desire and prayer for the salvation of Israel. This burden for the lost should be our portion as well.
We see a similar example in Genesis 18:23-33, where Abraham intercedes for Sodom and Gomorrah, praying that God would spare the cities if there were just a few righteous people living there. Abraham’s prayer ultimately led to the deliverance of Lot and his family.
As we pray for the unsaved, we must remember that our prayers can make a difference. We can pray for:
- Their hearts to be opened to receive the Gospel (Acts 16:14)
- God to send laborers into the harvest field (Matthew 9:38)
- The removal of spiritual blindness and scales from their eyes (2 Corinthians 4:4)
Moreover, praying for the unsaved helps us to cultivate a heart of compassion and empathy. As we intercede for those who are lost, we begin to see them through God’s eyes – as precious souls worthy of salvation. This burden for the lost should compel us to share the Gospel with those around us, that they may come to know the saving power of Jesus Christ.
Furthermore, our prayers for the unsaved are not limited by geographical boundaries or personal relationships. We can pray for the salvation of our friends, family members, colleagues, and even those we have never met. As we pray, we can trust that God is working behind the scenes to bring people to Himself.
SEARCHLIGHT
Praying for the unsaved is a command and a blessing. As we pray, we partner with God to bring salvation to those who are lost.
PRAYER
Lord God, I lift up the unsaved to You today. I pray that You would open their hearts to receive the Gospel, and that You would send laborers to share Your love with them. Remove spiritual blindness and scales from their eyes, that they may see Your glory and be saved, in Jesus’ Name.
