KEY VERSE:
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Colossians 3:23

Consider the life of a seed. A seed, when planted in the soil, goes through a process of growth and transformation. It starts small, hidden away from sight, but over time it emerges from the earth as a beautiful flower or a strong tree. Similarly, each of us has a divine purpose that begins when we find God and surrender to His will. Living according to God’s purpose requires understanding our identity in Christ, which is best discovered during our season of singleness. As we explore our identity in Christ, we begin to understand that our purpose is not defined by our relationship status or our accomplishments, but by our relationship with God. In this season of singleness, we are being cultivated, just like a seed in the soil. God is shaping and refining us, preparing us for the future He has planned for us. And just as a seed must be patient and trust in the process of growth, so must we. This process can be challenging at times. We may feel impatient or discouraged, wondering when our “flower” will bloom. But if we stay faithful to God, if we surrender our lives to Him, we will find that He is faithful to fulfil His promises. He is growing us, pruning us, and preparing us for the harvest of His kingdom. We are not just waiting; we are being prepared.

And so, as we explore the topic of finding our purpose as single people, let us prioritise our relationship with Him.

To live according to God’s purpose during our season of singleness, we must prioritise our relationship with Him.

  1. Seek God’s guidance: In everything you do, seek God’s guidance through prayer and scripture. Let His wisdom and His will guide your choices, your actions, and your relationships.
  2. Seek God’s will: Ask God to reveal His will for your life and be open to His leading, even if it takes you in unexpected directions.
  3. Seek to honour God: In all that you do, seek to honour God and bring glory to His name. Make your life a testimony to His goodness and grace.
  4. Seek to be a servant: Use your time, energy, and resources to serve others, both inside and outside the church. Be a light in a world that is so often dark.

In conclusion, your identity is not defined by your relationship status but by your relationship with God. The greatest thing you can do for yourself as a single person is to discover your purpose and align yourself with God’s will for your life. Seek His guidance, His will, and His glory, and trust that He will fulfil His promises. Now, as we continue in this Single Nuggets series in the next study, I challenge you to embrace your season of singleness as a time of growth, service, and deepening your relationship with God.

SEARCH LIGHT: Discovering your purpose and aligning yourself with God’s will for your life is the greatest thing you can do for yourself as a single person.

PRAYER: Heavenly Lord, guide me as I seek to discover my purpose and align myself with Your will for my life.
