SINGLE NUGGETS: PRACTICAL STEPS IN FINDING GOD’S PERFECT WILL IN MARRIAGE (STUDY 4)

Throughout this Single Nuggets series, we’ve emphasised the significance of understanding God’s will when choosing a life partner. Today, as we conclude our study, we’ll examine practical steps that can guide a single man or woman in making wise decisions in the area of marriage. We believe that a God-centred marriage is foundational to achieving our God-given destiny and purpose, and we must therefore seek His guidance in all matters related to marriage. The following 7 steps will assist us in aligning our choices with God’s will:
- Seek God First: Make God the centre of your life, and seek His guidance and direction in all matters, particularly in matters of the heart (Matthew 6:33).
- Pray for Guidance: Pray for God’s wisdom and direction in your search for a life partner, entrusting this important decision to Him (Philippians 4:6-7).
- Prepare Yourself: Identify and work on any personal weaknesses that may affect your relationship with a future spouse, committing to grow in maturity and wisdom before entering marriage (Proverbs 16:3).
- Pursue Knowledge: Seek out resources that will equip you with biblical knowledge on marriage, parenting, and related topics, helping you better understand God’s design for relationships (Proverbs 4:5-6).
- Establish Financial Stability: Take responsibility for your financial affairs, striving to avoid potential financial burdens on a future spouse and demonstrating that you can be a dependable and resourceful partner (Proverbs 22:7).
- Serve God Wholeheartedly: Dedicate yourself to serving God with all your heart, mind, and strength, letting your service to Him be the foundation for all that you do. This will not only deepen your relationship with God but also increase your likelihood of meeting potential partners who share your values and love for the Lord (Psalm 40:8).
- Embrace God’s Timing: Trust in God’s timing and His perfect plan for your life. Be patient and remain faithful, knowing that God’s ways are higher than our ways (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8).
As single men and women, we are called to walk with God in all things. By embracing these practical steps, we can deepen our relationship with Him, prepare ourselves for a God-centred marriage, and trust in His perfect plan for our lives. May we remain faithful, embracing His will and trusting in His wisdom as we seek to follow His path for our lives.
SEARCH LIGHT: As we wait on God’s timing, let’s remember that His ways are perfect, even if they are not always easy.
PRAYER: Father, I surrender my life to You. Please lead me in Your will and help me to patiently trust in Your timing. May I be ready to embrace Your plan for my life, including in the area of marriage. Amen.
