TEXT: Psalms 27:14, Habakkuk 2:3

KEY VERSE:
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalms 27:14

On her wedding day, the bride was a vision. Dressed in the finest gown and adorned with jewels, she was the envy of her friends. They watched as she walked down the aisle, whispering how lucky she was to marry such a wealthy man. The wedding was the best in town, the stuff of dreams. But after the honeymoon, the fantasy ended. The bride discovered that the man she had married was not who she thought he was. He was more concerned with his money than with her, and she knew she had made a terrible mistake, but it was too late. Shortly after their return from the honeymoon, the man filed for divorce, ending their short-lived union.

As the bride’s story spread, her friends’ perspectives changed. They had been enticed by the glitter of the wedding, but now, they saw the sobering truth: true happiness does not lie in riches, but in following God’s will and direction in choosing a God-fearing man. Not all that glitters is gold.

When we talk about the “blessed” woman, the usual suspects come to mind: the rich, the famous, the beautiful. But if we examine Scripture, we find that the blessed woman is not the one with the most possessions or followers, but rather the one who is most faithful to God. Women like Ruth, Esther, and Mary all found their true blessing in following God’s will, no matter how difficult the road was. Ruth was a foreigner, but her devotion to her mother-in-law and to God led her to the loving arms of Boaz (Ruth 1-4). Esther, a beautiful and courageous woman, risked her life to save her people from destruction (Esther 3-4). Mary, a young and humble woman, was chosen to bear the Son of God (Luke 1:26-38). All these women were “blessed,” not because of their circumstances, but because of their faith.

So the question becomes: Who is the most blessed woman? She is not the one with the most wealth or fame, but the one with the deepest faith. She is the woman who trusts in God’s plan and lets His light shine in her life. She is the woman who realises that the greatest riches are found in knowing and loving God.

The bride in our story thought she was lucky to marry a wealthy man, but she ignored the true source of blessing in her life: God’s guidance, blinded by the glitter of earthly treasures. In doing so, she lost the greatest gift she could have received: a loving husband who valued her more than possessions. This is a lesson we must all learn. As Hebrews 11:25 tells us, “By faith, [she] kept her house and secured her life, so that she received the promise.” True happiness and fulfilment do not come from the things of this world; they come from a faithful, obedient heart that seeks the will of God.

In conclusion, the story of the Blessed woman teaches us the importance of seeking God’s guidance, for true happiness lies not in material possessions but in a heart that is faithful to Him. In Part 3 of this Single Nuggets series, we will discuss the parallel story of a man who thought he was lucky but was not so lucky after all. Join us in tomorrow’s study as we explore how he, too, ignored God’s will in pursuit of worldly desires.

SEARCH LIGHT: The true definition of a blessed woman is not based on material wealth or societal status, but on her faith and devotion to God.

PRAYER: Father God, help me to always seek Your will for my life, prioritising Your wisdom over material gain. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
