STRENGTHENING NEW CONVERTS AND WEAK BELIEVERS
January 25, 2025
TEXT:”Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;” Hebrews 12:12 (KJV)
Beloved, as Christians, we have a responsibility to strengthen new converts and weak believers. This is a crucial aspect of our faith, and it is essential that we take it seriously. In Hebrews 12:12, we are encouraged to lift up those who are struggling, to strengthen those who are weak, and to help those who are faltering.
One of the best examples of strengthening new converts and weak believers is found in the life of Paul, who encouraged Timothy, a young pastor, to remain strong in his faith. In 1 Timothy 4:12, Paul writes, “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” Paul’s encouragement to Timothy is a powerful reminder that we all need to be strengthened and encouraged in our faith.
In 2 Timothy 1:7, Paul writes, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” This verse reminds us that God has given us the power to overcome fear and weakness, and to live a life of faith and courage.
As we seek to strengthen new converts and weak believers, here are some practical ways we can help:
- Visiting them: Take time to visit new converts and weak believers, to encourage them and show them that you care.
- Exhorting them: Encourage them to remain strong in their faith, and to continue to grow in their relationship with God.
- Building their faith: Help them to build their faith by teaching them God’s Word, and encouraging them to apply it to their lives.
- Relying on God’s Word: Remind them that God’s Word is their source of strength and encouragement, and that it has the power to transform their lives.
- Praying for them: Pray for new converts and weak believers, asking God to give them strength, courage, and wisdom as they seek to follow Him.
