TAKING BACK YOUR RIGHTFUL BELONGING

TEXT: But upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possession. — (Obadiah 1:17)
It is not uncommon sometimes to see believers lose what is rightfully theirs. Sometimes, this loss may be occasioned by the attack of the enemy, sin, punishment from God, ignorance, or nonchalance. A person can lose his health, wealth, spiritual vigour, joy, opportunities, career advancement, business, etc., in such circumstances. However, we must understand our place in Christ. There is no defeat in Christ Jesus, and the moment we understand this fact, we will rise up to claim what is rightfully ours.
The Mount Zion being quoted in the given text is not a physical mountain. Mount Zion here symbolizes Christ and righteousness. It means if Christ is present in your life, deliverance from the evils mentioned above will be guaranteed. Also, when righteousness is the order of the day, permanent deliverance won’t be too far away from such a person. No wonder there was emphasis on “deliverance and holiness.”
KEY FACTS
- God has given an inheritance to all. Your peace, health, wealth, career, etc., are all part of this inheritance (Ephesians 1:11). The enemy is always lurking about, looking for an opportunity to rob you of what is rightfully yours in order to render you destitute, impotent, and empty (John 10:10).
- Before you can recover your possession, you must be delivered — deliverance from ignorance, the bondage of sin, demonic oppression, fear, and anxiety. This deliverance can only be gotten in Zion and nowhere else (Isaiah 10:27).
- After deliverance, holiness is needed for the fire of deliverance not to be extinguished. If you are delivered but go back to your sins, you are not likely to recover much or even anything at all (Hebrews 12:14).
- You must be determined. It’s not just about verbal desire alone. To possess your possession, you must rise up in faith and strive towards claiming the victory.
