TEXT: Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8)

As is often said, the world has become a global village. Society has advanced so well in terms of technology and development and it is not uncommon to see some of these advancements affect our worship of God and our devotion to Him. Many have tried to downplay the need for commitment and loyalty to God in the ever-changing world. Several years ago, people worshipped God with absolute commitment, unshakeable faith and total reverence, in the crudest possible form. However, the advancement in technology has undoubtedly affected our worship of God. Without mincing words, we must admit that technology has helped us a lot in terms of worshipping God. Through our mobile phones, we can watch edifying movies, read soft-copy Bibles and listen to sermons wherever we go. A lot of doctrines are also being tweaked and modified to please modern-day youths. However, regardless of these seemingly positive benefits, we must also note that Jesus Christ has never, is not and will never bend or shake His standards in a bid to please anyone. The ways of Christ still remain the same and uncompromised.

KEY FACTS

  1. The wages of sin have always been death and still remain death. No matter how we try to twist or amend it to look normal, sin is still sin and the definition of sin in the past has not changed in the present, neither will it ever change. (Romans 6:23)
  2. As the world changes, moral and spiritual values tend to bend. Things that we all grew up believing to be sins are being gradually modified to look normal. Modern Christians are being deceived by fraudulent pastors that masturbation and pornography are normal. However, all these things remain sexual lust and God’s stance concerning them remains unchanging.
  3. God’s promises remain yea and Amen. His promises remain constant. He is not a man that He should lie. (Numbers 23:19, Matthew 24:35).
