THE DANGERS OF SPIRITUAL COMPROMISE II
DECEMBER 3, 2024
TEXT: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; to him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.” (Revelation 2:7)
Yesterday, we examined the meaning, nature, and examples of spiritual compromise, mirroring our teaching after the letters written by God to some of the churches in the book of Revelation. Today, we shall continue by examining the consequences of spiritual compromise.
DANGERS OF SPIRITUAL COMPROMISE
- It can make one open and exposed to spiritual attack. (Revelation 2:10)
- It can lead to loss of spiritual power and effectiveness. When you start compromising your stand on spiritual matters, it will be very difficult to maintain your spiritual fervency and efficiency. (Revelation 2:4-5)
- It can slow down a person’s spiritual growth and maturity in Christ. (Revelation 2:7)
- Also, the more a person compromises, the more he loses his position in Christ. He can then be “spewed out of Christ’s mouth” in the sense that such a person will be rejected by Christ.
KEY TAKE HOME POINTS
✅ Be Steadfast: Be steadfast towards the teachings of Christ. (Revelation 2:12)
✅ Maintain a Solid Relationship: Maintain a solid relationship with Christ. When you are fully abiding in Christ, it will be difficult to compromise your Christian faith.
✅ Be Bold and Courageous: Be bold, fearless, and courageous to speak against injustice and unfairness in society.
✅ Speak the Truth: Never classify anyone as being untouchable and unworthy of hearing the blunt truth contained in the word of God, regardless of their reaction to such truth.
SEARCHLIGHT: The word of God remains the word of God. It should not be diluted or mixed with other things just to make it more pleasant and receptive to the people of the world.
PRAYER: O Lord, help me to remain committed to your true teaching.
