THE DECLARATION OF FAITH: TRUSTING IN GOD’S PROMISE

TEXT: Mark 11:22-24; Matthew 21:22

KEY VERSE: And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matthew 21:22

In a small village, a farmer and his daughter tended their farm with great care. But one day, they discovered that locusts had infested their fields, threatening to destroy their crops. The farmer was disheartened and began to weep, but his daughter remained steadfast. ‘Father, let us pray,’ she said, and reluctantly, the farmer joined in prayer.

As the farmer prayed with his daughter, his faith was renewed. The daughter’s bold declaration of faith to God pierced through the despair: ‘Lord, we know that You are a God of restoration and provision. Please protect our crops and deliver us from this plague.’ And in that moment, something miraculous began to unfold. Birds of every kind appeared and descended on the locusts, devouring them until none remained. The farmer and his daughter, overcome with gratitude, praised God for His divine intervention, knowing that their faith in Him had been the catalyst for the miracle.

Imagine what would have happened if the farmer’s daughter had not urged her father to pray, but instead joined him in weeping. Would they have seen God’s miraculous intervention? Unlikely. But because she chose to declare her faith in God’s ability to restore their farm, a miracle occurred.

As believers, we must understand that our words hold tremendous power. They carry the potential to invoke God’s might and move mountains. Prayer, as we know, is a vital part of a believer’s life. It’s a way to commune with God and seek His guidance, protection, and provision. But prayer must be accompanied by faith—a deep-seated belief in God’s ability to act.

When we pray and declare our faith in God, we remind ourselves and those around us that God is the ultimate authority. He is not limited by the powers of darkness, but rather they are subject to Him. When we speak words of faith, we align ourselves with God’s will and open the door for His miracles to occur.

The farmer’s daughter understood this. She knew that crying would not bring rain, but declaring her faith in God’s providence could bring a deliverance. And so it did. This serves as a powerful reminder that our words hold authority, and when spoken in faith, they can unleash the power of God.

As we conclude this study, let us remember the power of declaring our faith in God. When we speak words of faith, we speak into existence the truth of God’s promises. Just as faith without works is dead, so too is prayer without faith empty.

Therefore, beloved, let us hold fast to our faith, let us speak boldly and confidently into the darkness, knowing that our words hold power when rooted in God’s promises, and speaking them boldly can unleash His miraculous provision.

SEARCH LIGHT: Faith without works is dead, and so too is prayer without faith.

PRAYER: Lord, please increase my faith in Your power and provision. Help me to speak words of faith into my life and the lives of those around me.
