THE “GIFT” TO MANKIND THAT CHANGED THE WORLD

THE “GIFT” TO MANKIND THAT CHANGED THE WORLD

DECEMBER 26, 2025

TEXT: For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whomever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16).

Beloved, as we bask in the euphoria of the festive season, it is very important for us to know the primary concern and purpose of the season. Christmas is not primarily a feast of food, decorations, clothes, drinks, exchanging gifts, songs, etc. While these things are not taboo and are even the peculiarities of the season, it is still important to know that it is a season of sober reflection on our relationship with the “reason for the season”. It is a season where we are to examine our lives and ascertain if we are not just feasting and celebrating a person with whom we have little or no connection and relationship whatsoever.

This season gives us the grace to celebrate “God’s greatest gift to mankind!”. This greatest gift, Jesus Christ, came to transform our lives and restore our relationship with the Father. This was at a time when the world was spiritually dark, politically tense and morally corrupt, just as we have it today, thereby making it the perfect time to send His Son to us. (Galatians 4:4) Jesus was sent by God out of compassion and love, not out of compulsion.

This is a season where we need to take time to meditate and think about our lives. In the midst of the eating, drinking and merrying, take stock of your life. How is your relationship with your Creator? For several years, you have graciously and consistently participated in the celebration of a person whom you do not know. Now is the time to use this festive season to come into the consciousness of the reason for Christ’s birth and His purpose on earth. It is only then that the true essence and glamour of the season can make logical sense.

SEARCHLIGHT: A life of merriment and celebration without Christ is a vain one. Come to the light that He has offered you today.

PRAYERS: O Lord, help me to understand and appreciate the true essence of the season, in the mighty name of Jesus.
