THE LIVING EPISTLE

THE LIVING EPISTLE

NOVEMBER 8, 2025

TEXT: Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.” (2 Corinthians 3:2-3)

An epistle is a letter written from one individual to another. Apostle Paul was referring to the people of Corinth in this text. He was simply explaining the fact that as believers, our lives, conducts and speeches are epistles in the sense that they all convey varying forms of messages to those around us. These messages may be positive or negative. The people around you may be too lazy to open and study the Bible. However, they are readily available to study you and if possible, turn you to a research project the moment you declare yourself a believer. As living epistles, our lifestyles indirectly carry messages to the world. People are so observant of our attitudes. Our lives serve as the tool and medium of certainty of faith as far as some people are concerned. These people believe that once you proclaim yourself as being born again, all acts of us must change and become Christ-like. The day you are caught off guard misbehaving, it may spell doom for the salvation or potential salvation of such people. True evangelism is when people can see us and become ushered into the world of sobriety. True evangelism is when our lives become the template for other people to take stock of their lives and evaluate their ways with a view to changing for better. You may think no one sees you. Whether we like it or not, we need not hold microphones before we are recognized as preachers. Our daily life actually speaks volume. What we say or do can either make or mar people. It can either draw people closer to God or push people away from God. A life of peace and honesty can invite and attract people towards your faith while a life of belligerence and bellicosity can make people blaspheme the very name by which you are called. (Matthew 5:16)

As living epistles, if we are to remain ever clear and plain, we must learn to constantly draw closer to our Father. We can’t recreate the lifestyle of a God with whom we have no fellowship or communion regularly.

SEARCHLIGHT: Pattern your life in such a way that the beauty of Christ can be discernible to unbelievers and even believers around you.

PRAYER: O Lord, may people not lose salvation through my lifestyle, in Jesus’ name.

BIBLE READING: Amos 4-6, John 6
