THE NEED FOR POWER IN A DANGEROUS WORLD (2)

TEXT: Luke 10:19
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Having introduced and established the concept, nature, and importance of power in the life of a believer in our discussion yesterday, we shall now delve into other aspects of this important subject. As emphasized previously, we all need power to survive in this spiritually anarchic world.
Sources of Power
- The Spirit of God
The Holy Spirit is the foremost source of power for the believer. It is His descent into a person’s life that paves the way for supernatural power to be manifested. (Acts 1:8). Therefore, to access divine power, we must ensure that the Holy Spirit is present and active in our lives. - The Scriptures
Constant meditation on the Word of God opens our eyes to many spiritual realities and empowers us to confront and overcome them. (Hebrews 4:12) - Prayer and Fasting
This is another sure path to spiritual empowerment. Even Christ affirmed this when His disciples were unable to heal the boy with an epileptic fit. He revealed that certain kinds of spiritual resistance only yield to prayer and fasting. (Matthew 17:21) - Faith
Without faith, we cannot activate the release of supernatural power in our lives. (1 John 5:4)

SEARCHLIGHT: Our goal in life as believers is not merely to survive, but to thrive and dominate. Without spiritual power, this becomes a herculean—if not impossible—task.
PRAYER: O LORD, empower me from Your heavenly abode and help me to dominate my world, in Jesus’ name.
