TEXT: Luke 10:19

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread over serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Today, we continue our teaching on spiritual power and its vital effect in this brutal and perilous world

Why Is It Necessary for a Christian to Possess Power?

  1. Power gives us the edge over principalities and powers
We are surrounded by spiritual forces—principalities, powers, rulers of darkness in high places, and demonic agents. These forces cannot be handled through physical strength or intellectual capacity. We need divine power to overcome them.
  2. To help us remain vigilant and spiritually alert
The vigilance required in the end times cannot be achieved by natural means. (Matthew 24:24) warns of deceptive agents capable of misleading even the elect. Remaining spiritually awake in such times demands divine empowerment.
  3. For effective evangelism
Evangelism is far more than eloquence or persuasive speech. Without the power of the Holy Spirit, evangelism becomes mere motivational speaking. The field is full of spiritual danger, and powerless preachers become easy prey for ravenous wolves. (Acts 4:31)

How to Sustain the Power of God in Your Life

  1. Daily study of the Bible
Constant immersion in the Word provides fresh insights and helps nurture divine power.
  2. Fellowship with other believers
Do not forsake the assembly of the saints. Iron sharpens iron. Fellowship with like-minded believers strengthens your spiritual capacity.
  3. Maintain holiness and uprightness
The Holy Spirit will not dwell in a defiled vessel. A life of purity is non-negotiable. (2 Corinthians 6:17)
  4. Stay tuned to the voice of God
Be continually sensitive to God’s voice. Never sideline His presence if you want your spiritual power to remain active and effective.

SEARCHLIGHT: A powerless life makes one vulnerable to back-to-back attacks and spiritual missiles launched from the enemy’s camp.

PRAYER: O my Father, may I not become a toy in the hands of the enemy, in Jesus’ name.

BIBLE READING: Ecclesiastes 3–5, Revelation 20
