THE PATHWAY TO PERFECTION

THE PATHWAY TO PERFECTION

TEXT: Colossians 1:24–29

KEY VERSE: “Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.” (Colossians 1:28)

Christian perfection is not something we can achieve by our strength or efforts. Just like salvation, it comes by grace through faith. When a person is saved, they begin a new journey with Christ. They become like a baby in the family of God and must grow by reading the Bible, praying, joining fellowship, and learning from God. As they grow, God helps them become more holy and Christlike.

This experience of perfection has two parts: an instant work and a growing process. The instant part happens when a believer truly surrenders and trusts Jesus to cleanse their heart. God purifies the heart and removes the roots of sin. But the journey does not stop there. Believers are expected to grow in that experience every day. As the Bible says, “perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 7:1). Growth in holiness is something that continues throughout life.

To keep growing, we must stay faithful to the gospel and continue following Christ. Paul said, “If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled…” (Colossians 1:23). Sometimes, God will use life situations or His Word to show us our weaknesses. He does this not to shame us but to help us grow stronger. We must take every lesson seriously and ask God to help us become better.

God also uses His ministers to guide us toward perfection. Their duty is to preach, teach, and warn so that every believer becomes mature in Christ. Paul stated this clearly in Colossians 1:28. If preachers focus only on success or miracles but ignore holiness, they miss the main goal. And if believers enjoy motivational talks but avoid messages about holiness, they are not truly seeking heaven. The gospel is meant to prepare us to meet a holy God.

In conclusion, the journey to Christian perfection begins with faith and continues through obedience. God will guide us through His Word, His Spirit, and faithful ministers. The true Christian will desire to grow daily and become more like Jesus. The goal is not just to be saved but to be perfect in Christ. Every message that challenges our character and draws us closer to holiness is a message we must embrace.

SEARCH LIGHT: Christian perfection is possible when we trust fully in Christ and follow Him daily. God wants to purify our hearts and help us grow in holiness so we can be ready for heaven.

PRAYER: Lord, help me grow in holiness each day. Make my heart pure and my life pleasing to You. Amen.
