TEXT: So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work. (Nehemiah 4:6)

Collaboration simply means putting all hands on deck to ensure that a particular task or assignment is actualized. It means bringing people of like-mindedness together and dividing tasks among them to ensure that a task is completed. There are various tasks that cannot be actualized without the concerted efforts of a group of individuals.

If you take a look at the life of Nehemiah, it took the concerted effort of the men to make the dream come to fulfillment. It was not just due to his leadership skills alone, but the cooperative nature of the entire community. Nehemiah involved people from all walks of life within the Israelites’ community, including priests, Levites, merchants, and even the daughters of Shallum (Nehemiah 3:12). The rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem was a massive project that required massive team effort, and this led Nehemiah to assign specific tasks to different individuals who worked together to make the dream a reality (Nehemiah 3:1-32).

Even though, in the course of their rebuilding project, they faced obstacles from the likes of Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem, and the rest of them, the collaboration and cooperation inherent in them held them firmly against the adversities of these enemies. The diversity involved in the team made it easier for them to actualize their desired targets on time.
