TEXT: That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother’s womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man. (Judges 16:17)

To every destiny, there is a secret that must be guarded jealously and delicately. Secrets of destiny are those codes and sacred spiritual rules which must be diligently guarded in order to avoid one’s destiny being tampered with. Samson was not an exception in this regard. He had a Nazarite vow which was represented by his unshaven hair and which was also a prominent factor in how he was able to operate mightily in power. His parents had been given the codes to his destiny long before he was born. He was to refrain from alcohol, polluted substances and head shaving. Immediately he was born, the Spirit of God began to rest upon him until his adult years. Things were going smoothly until he found himself in the demonic valley of Sorek, where he encountered Delilah, the renowned destiny slayer, roaster, aborter and killer. Having refrained for a while, he was lured into revealing his destiny secrets to his destiny assassin. His life never remained the same after that unforgettable experience until he eventually died with his enemies.

The story of Samson reflects the fact that secrets are indeed sacred and aren’t meant to be divulged anyhow. Trust no man, not even your seemingly close relatives, when it comes to destiny matters. Destiny matters are personal and individualistic in nature. They are not meant to be shared with just anybody.

The greatest mistake that Joseph made that nearly cost him his beautiful destiny was the fact that he thought he was in the midst of his blood, his own flesh and blood (Genesis 37). Unfortunately, a man’s enemies shall be those of his household. His brothers got to know of the pattern which his destiny would take and they hastily facilitated his sale to the land of Egypt. Unknown to them, they were working for God and for divine purpose. The devil is never interested in a man with a colourful destiny. He always seeks how to utterly destroy them.

SEARCHLIGHT: The Bible encourages us to guard our hearts. We must equally guard our mouths with all diligence to avoid giving approval to the enemies to shortchange us.

PRAYER: O LORD, give me the requisite self-control that my life and destiny need, in Jesus’ mighty name.

BIBLE READING: Ezekiel 46-48, Luke 18
