THE SECRET OF EFFECTIVE EVANGELISM (2)

THE SECRET OF EFFECTIVE EVANGELISM (2)

APRIL 26, 2025

TEXT: Colossians 1:15-18; James 4:6

KEY VERSE: But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. James 4:6

Effective evangelism requires not only prayer, humility, and obedience, but also a focus on Jesus Christ. Too often, we neglect the importance of making Christ the center of our message. Instead of highlighting the salvation that comes through faith in Jesus, we may focus on worldly matters or personal opinions. This undermines the true power of the gospel. To be truly effective in our evangelism, we must prioritize sharing the message of Christ and His saving grace. To prioritize the message of Christ, we must first understand the importance of Jesus Himself in the act of evangelism. John 1:12 tells us, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” This emphasizes that it is through faith in Jesus that we are granted the power of God’s love and salvation. If we do not focus on the saving power of Jesus, we may be denying people the opportunity to experience the fullness of God’s grace.

Effective evangelism requires trust in the power of the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of those we are sharing the gospel with. If we approach evangelism with doubt in the Spirit’s ability to bring about salvation, we undermine the effectiveness of our message. Such doubts are tools of darkness, designed to discourage and dissuade us from our calling. But the Bible tells us that with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). Moreover, faith in the Holy Spirit’s power to work in others allows us to approach evangelism with a humble and non-judgmental attitude. Romans 14:4 reminds us, “Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.” This means that we do not have to worry about whether someone will be saved or not, but rather trust in the Lord’s power to bring about their salvation.

As we close this message today, I encourage you to go forth and be obedient to the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20: ‘Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.’ Remember, it is not our own power that brings about salvation, but the Holy Spirit working through us. May God bless you and guide you as you go forth to share the gospel.

SEARCH LIGHT: Effective evangelism requires prioritizing Jesus Christ, relying on the Holy Spirit, and approaching evangelism with humility and non-judgment.

PRAYER: Lord, I pray that I would be obedient to Your Great Commission and that You would use me to bring Your message of salvation to those who need to hear it.
