THE VALUE OF EVERY SOUL TO GOD
March 7, 2025
TEXT: “Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin which I had lost.'” (Luke 15:8-9)
Today’s discussion is specially prepared to portray the magnanimous nature of God and the extent to which He is willing to go to bring sinners back to His fold. Jesus Christ, in His customary manner of teaching through parables, told a parable about a woman who misplaced just one out of ten coins and had to sweep the entire house diligently until she found it. When she found it, she called her friends to rejoice with her over her triumph. The woman here represents God, while the coins represent us humans.
God Almighty is a loving God, who is willing to go to great lengths to bring back a sinner into His fold. Every soul is of utmost importance to God, regardless of condition, race, nationality, etc. The Father does not desire that anyone should perish. Rather, He desires that everyone should come to repentance. (Matthew 18:14, John 3:16)
Ordinarily, an average person would have left the lost coin behind. However, God has everyone in His thoughts at every given time. Verse 10 of our given text also points out that there is always massive joy and rejoicing in heaven over a sinner who repents. This simply means that God places great value on the souls of men. Thus, God expects that we cultivate the same zeal, passion, and thirst that He has for reaching out to the lost and perishing souls among us.
Having been assisted to grow in faith by others, it is expedient that we also help those around us to grow. When we develop the spirit of passion for the lost, we are automatically ready to go to great lengths to bring them to Christ.
SEARCHLIGHT
God’s undying love for sinners who are perishing should be imitated by us as believers if we are to have any chance of receiving the crown of glory in the kingdom.
PRAYER
Passion for the lost soul, envelop my life, in the name of Jesus.
