TEXT: He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions. Daniel 6:27

Daniel, a young Jewish boy, was carried off into exile by King Nebuchadnezzar. Despite the unfamiliar surroundings and hardships, Daniel remained true to his faith in God. When the king had a disturbing dream that none of his advisors could interpret, Daniel stepped forward and asked for the opportunity to reveal the dream’s meaning. God granted Daniel the wisdom to understand the dream, and he was able to interpret it for the king, winning his favour and protection.

As Daniel grew in favour with the king, he was elevated to high positions of power and leadership. However, his rise to prominence was not without challenges. The jealous officials of Babylon sought to bring about his downfall, but God intervened on Daniel’s behalf time and again. When Daniel was thrown into a den of lions, an angel protected him overnight, and he emerged unscathed the next morning.

Daniel’s faith and wisdom earned him a place of high esteem amongst the Babylonian nobles and administrators. He served several Babylonian kings and was able to interpret a mysterious message as a warning of judgment for the king’s arrogance and blasphemy against God.

The story of Daniel’s faith, wisdom, and devotion to God had not only spared him from harm but also elevated him to a position of great influence in Babylon. Daniel’s life teaches us that faith in God leads to divine favour, courage and wisdom can overcome adversity, devotion to God brings blessings and rewards, perseverance leads to success, and God’s plan for our lives is greater than our own.

SEARCH LIGHT: Devotion to God brings protection, favour, and guidance.

PRAYER: Dear God, I yield myself to You, seeking to be fully reliant on Your power and guidance, that I may be an instrument for Your remarkable works, in Jesus’ Name.

BIBLE READING: 2 Kings 12-14, 1 Corinthians 14.
