TOPIC: THE “ABOVE” LIFE: SHIFTING FROM SURVIVING TO THRIVING II
OCTOBER 2, 2024
TEXT: “And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do ” Deuteronomy 28:13.
Yesterday, we did a sort of introduction to this particular topic. Today, we shall continue from where we stopped.
Yesterday, we analyzed how God’s plan is for us to prosper and be in good health. Most times, unfortunately, the devil tries to hinder God’s divine agenda, and it’s also unfortunate that some of us are guilty of willingly giving the devil a chance to truncate or tamper with our destinies.
God Almighty has, in the scriptures, assured us that we will be the head and not the tail. This therefore raises a very important question: Why are some people so far from this promise of God?
FACTORS THAT ARE NECESSARY TO KEY INTO THE “ABOVE LIFE” PROMISE OF GOD
1. Faith: It is not enough that the promise is in the scriptures. Do you believe it? Do you trust the fact that it exists? The bible says “Faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Our approach to this promise determines how it will work for us.
2. Positive Mindset: To connect to the “above” life, we must tailor our mindset to align with God’s promises rather than allow it to be dictated by surrounding circumstances. We must claim the reality of Philippians 4:13 for ourselves. Tell yourself that you can’t be limited by any condition (be it economic, financial, health, etc.) in Christ Jesus.
3. Obedience: When God entered into a covenant with the Israelites in Deuteronomy 28, he gave them a list of do’s and don’ts. He expects us to comply in a bid to enjoy the benefits, while there are consequences for disobedience as well.
4. People of Like-Mindedness: “Like begets like” and “Iron sharpens iron”. To connect to the “above life”, it is very important to move with people with similar targets. Hebrews 10:24-25
5. Perseverance and Resilience: The LORD has not assured us of a smooth sail in life. He said there shall be trials and tribulations. Your response to this determines your suitability for the “above” life you so much desire. Romans 8:37″
…To be continued
SEARCHLIGHT: Nothing good comes easily. To live the “above” life, you must diligently do your part, while trusting God to also do His “part”, as he always does.
PRAYER: LORD, that step I need to take to be above in all ramifications, reveal it unto me, in Jesus’ name.
