TEXT: And the cares of this world , and the deceitfulness of riches ,and the lusts of other things entering in , choke the word , and it becometh unfruitful (Mark 4:19)

We Live in a crooked and perverted world ,where lifestyles and value that opposes God’s word are celebrated and considered normal. Christians are now tagged Old-fashioned.
Worldliness gradually has crept into the church and christians have fallen prey to worldly values. The music of the world which promotes materialism, dirty languages, nudity have been modified by christian for worship in church. We dance to the tune of worldly beat and we proclaim to worship God. We cannot change God’s precepts which says that “God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship him in truth and spirit”( John 4:24).
Many things that were previously considered socially, unacceptable are now gaining social acceptance. For example, extramarital sex , violence , immorality ,indecency are now glamourized in the entertainment world and christian youth have become caught in the web. Many of them even look up to celebrities who wear revealing clothing, viewing them as role models. But remember what the scripture says in James 4:4 ” ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
“Many so-called Christians today have adopted the ungodly fashion trends and fads of the world, believing the world common cliche that God only cares about outward appearance. But the Bible tells us that this is not true. In Isaiah 3:19-22, God condemns the ungodly fashion trends of the “daughters of Zion” who wear “ornaments of gold and scarlet,” “veils upon their heads,” and “sash around their waists.” That it is trendy in the society doesn’t make it acceptable before God. Even though the world around us is rapidly changing, God’s Word remains the same. The psalmist wrote, ” Your word, O Lord, stands forever” (Psalm 119:89). God’s standards for holiness have not changed. What was sinful at the time of Pentecost is still sinful today, even if the world tries to label it as righteous. And those who live such worldly lifestyles are “worthy of death, not only do the same , but have pleasure in them that do them” ( Rom 1:32)
In conclusion,Apostle Peter had admonished christians to be on guard against the incessant assaulted of the devil that have potentials of damning our soul, ” Be sober, vigilant; because your adversary the devil , as a roaring lion , walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” ( 1pt 5:8 ).

SEARCH LIGHT:
Christianity does not adapt to the customs and beliefs of different cultures. Instead, it takes the truth of God’s Word into those cultures, and seeks to transform them to align with God’s revelation

PRAYER: Father, in midst of this perverted world, help me to stand out for you, vigilant and be on guard always.

BIBLE READING: Job 10-12, 1 Thessalonians 5
