TEXT: 2 Kings 4:2″And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.”

Yesterday, we examined the importance of presenting something before God to work with in improving our circumstances, rather than idly relying on Him to perform a miracle. Today, we will explore examples of biblical characters relevant to this topic:

  1. David: Before David’s manifestation, he had acquired diverse training, including military skills learned while watching over his father’s flock (1 Samuel 17).
  2. Peter: Imagine if Peter had been lazy and idle; he would have missed participating in the great commission of our Lord Jesus Christ. He had honed his fishing skills and was not lazy; in fact, he was called while actively using these skills to earn a living (Luke 5:1-11).
  3. Nehemiah: Before Nehemiah became prominent, he had already demonstrated leadership, intercession, and physical building skills, which God utilized to elevate him.
  4. Mary, the mother of Jesus: Mary’s royal privilege of birthing the Savior of the world was not solely due to chance. She had preserved her sexual purity, unknowingly preparing herself for this assignment.
  5. Ruth: Ruth built a reputation as one of the most enduring women in the Bible. Her steadfastness to her mother-in-law and good character and virtue led God to provide her marital settlement with Boaz, David’s great-grandfather.
  6. Apostle Paul: Despite being a persecutor of the brethren, Paul was diligent and hardworking. He utilized his knowledge, acquired from Gamaliel, to advance the gospel.

We could explore many more biblical characters who exemplify this principle, but we will conclude here.

SEARCHLIGHT: While it doesn’t cost God anything to grant our requests, people tend to value things they have laboured for. Therefore, we must fulfill our part before God does His part.

PRAYER: O God, help me to do the necessary things for my breakthrough to manifest, in Jesus’ name.
